Week 5 on 5 Rant

So, I have a few issues for week5-5 to be exact.

1) I was out of town this past weekend, and I didn't even get to see the game.  Blocked out by another game which I'm sure had some fans watching somewhere.
2) I don't think that we have a reliable back up.  Thank goodness for Matt Forte!
3) Why is it that when Da Bears loose, 54 has to come out and deliver the bad news and own up to the fact that they lost--but then they win,  it's someone else.  You'd think that we might get some consistency somewhere?--Oh wait, it's the Bears.  That's not going to happen.
4) Idonije had 3 sacks and what do we hear about Peppers going back to his former team.
5) I really don't like the news coverage on ESPN.  Not much mention so far about the beating Da Bears gave this weekend.

I guess that's all I've got for now.  Hopefully we'll continue to get better and play better. Next week, we play the Sea Hawks--Jay will be back.  We'll just have to wait and see.

Sunday's Horrific Game

As I promised, here's my basic thoughts on Sunday's horrible, horrific, and tragic game.  I must give you a warning, I stopped watching in the third quarter. So between game time and then--this is the analysis.

10 things about Sunday's game.

1) I wrote that the Defense was on the field at least 46 times. Not nearly balanced.
2) I have that the offence had 1 first down in the second quarter.  This is not acceptable.
3)I have Jay getting sacked a total of 9 times in the first half.
4) I correctly predicted not 1 but 3 correct plays for a total of 1 sack on the Bears D and 1 picked throw by Jay and one running play with some yardage.
5) I have notes amounting 6 lines where I say that Brian should be doing something--and he usually is.
6) I have come to the conclusion that some of the Bears luck has run out.
7)Also, I find myself reminiscing about 2006--creepy. And that year was bad on offence.
8)How many bears does it take to stop a giant?  The answer is 4. Third quarter joke.
9)I said this to my father: "Jay is being sacked more than groceries at Kroger." Another third quarter joke.
10) And finally--What the heck is the Willis Tower?  People are actually calling it that?
By the by, if that's what I had to end with--what does that say about the game?

All in all, the defense played admirably.  There was no offense, and the only hope of scoring was on special teams.  And that didn't happen. So, if my beloved Chicago Bears keep this up--that 3-0 start will be a fleeting memory. We're 3-1 and unfortunately Brian, Julius and the Bears D has to get the job done.

Bear Down fans, bear down.

Last Night's Game--Short

I went into last night being entirely too optimistic.  So, now let me jump back into reality.  My Bears were crushed.  I have a full transcription of the game and I will get that up tomorrow.  But if the aftermath is any proof of how bad they were, get this.  Brian had to do the post-game press conference last night, and even he looked beat up and tired.  The D was certainly the highlight of the game, but according to my boy, it wasn't enough.  Here's the link. Brian's Post-Game Press Conference  Not Pretty.

You'll get my full post game analysis tomorrow!

Pray that Da Bears heal this week and want revenge next week.

Pre-Weekend Rant

If you know who I am, you know that I frequently visit the Yahoo Sports Page to read up on my Bears.  And well if you don't know, now you know that I use Yahoo a lot. Regardless when I checked the page today, I was not so shocked to find out that none of their football "experts" say that the Bears are the team to beat in the NFC. It was the headline item on their main NFL page. Now, usually I would understand because I am a realist.  I will be the first to say that my Bears lucked out in week one.  And yes, the Packers didn't help themselves in week three.  HOWEVER, Da Bears are 3-0.  They are the only NFC team to remain undefeated. There's a reason for that.  First--as my poll said, we have a new offensive coordinator.  Second, Brian Urlacher is healthy--see my rave.  And third, this guy named Julius Peppers is a beast!  So when the ESPN guys at NFL Game Day and NFL Live are picking the Bears (and I'm not just talking about Coach Ditka), why can't my favorite sports guys at Yahoo?

Get with it!

The Weekly 54 Rave

Hello Readers!  Okay, so I know there aren't a lot of readers yet, but I can dream, right?  So, this is my first rave about the man #54 and what an amazing football player he is!

According the the Chicago Bears Website Urlacher feels revitalized after one-year hiatus!  It's a huge boost to the defense and mental boost to the entire team.  He's already playing at a pro-bowl level.  I really think that this could be a special year--Mainly because 54 is back and more healthy than ever!  He's got 33 tackles, six tackles-for-loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. "He also leads the NFL with 5½ stuffs, which are tackles of a rusher for negative yards"  (direct from the web) It's pretty impressive for only three games.  I can't wait to see what else Urlacher is going to do this year!  If it's anything like '06, then we're in for one hec of a year.  I'm probably the only one who's saying that.

Though according to a recent article Brian likes to be the underdog!  We shall see!

Let's do a poll:

What is the main difference between this year and last?

Mike Martz
Julius Peppers
Brian Urlacher being healthy
Or a combination of all

Test

This is a test.  Later tonight I'm going to actually chat about the game last night!  It rocked!  Check out the pic on the right.  Brian's half time save.  Aaron Rogers threw a Hail Mary and Brian's right there to bat it away!  Doing his job!  BEAR DOWN
